CPU multiplier, also known as CPU ratio or CPU multiplier ratio, is a setting that determines the speed at which the CPU operates. It is a multiplier applied to the base clock frequency of the CPU to determine the final clock speed.
For example, if the base clock frequency is 100 MHz and the CPU multiplier is set to 40, the CPU will operate at a speed of 4 GHz (100 MHz x 40). By adjusting the CPU multiplier, users can overclock or underclock their CPU to increase or decrease its performance, respectively.
The CPU multiplier is an important factor in determining the overall performance of a CPU, as it directly affects the clock speed at which the CPU can process instructions. However, it is worth noting that not all CPUs support manual adjustment of the multiplier, as it depends on the CPU’s architecture and the motherboard’s BIOS settings.
